Virtual Showcases and Open Mics |
Virtual Showcases
Mike Risko Music Virtual Music School offers students the opportunity to particpate in bi-weekly showcases. Remember in the old days when music schools and teachers offered yearly recitals for students? Well those days are gone. Having gone virtual means showcases are so much easier to participate in. Also, students can invite friends and family from all over the globe to log in with them to watch their performance and for 30 minutes, be a part of their musical education. Our virtual showcases are free for students and audience members. Students of any age, leve,l and ability can log in and play or just watch the other students perform.
Having frequent showcase opportunities means that students have something to work toward and look forward to. If they know they have a recital coming up, they want to practice and they are excited to learn a new pieces. Recitals are recorded and students can watch them over and over or send the link to a family member who may not have been able to log in. For those students that aren't availablefor the showcase, they should look for opportunites to perform in our recorded student showcases. We simply log into your lesson, record your piece and create a virtual recital starring many of the other students at the music school. This is a great option for students who are also shy and who are not comfortable playing live. As the world opens up, we will try to also go back to offering some in-person opportunities to perform without an audience. These showcases will be recorded and uploaded to You-tube for all to enjoy.
These showcase opportunities cut travel time, they enable people to log in from a distance and they create a community of like minded musicians who can grow from listening to and supporiing each other.

Virtual Open Mics
Virtual Open Mics became part of our routine during the stay at home order. Every Thursday we would log in and meet up with some amazing musicians from near and far. We would listen to music and talk about music from the safety of our own homes.
Our Open Mics are really fun and are making a come back during the fall on a monthly basis. These open mics are free and anyone can join us. We have always really enjoyed hosting in-person open mics and connecting with the local musician community and we are happy that we can offer these safe options during these times.
To join us for an open mic, simply reach out for the log in info. Look for the open mic schedule to be posted on our calendar page or on social media.
