Ossining Village Fair June 14, 2008 |
On Saturday June 13, 2008, the Mike Risko Music School participated in the 28th annual Ossining Village Fair. We were responsible for running the sound and hosting the Aqueduct Stage which was held at 2 Church Street. It was a really exciting day! First, we arrived at the fair at 7am to set up our booth. Then we set up all the sound equipment on the stage. There was a local band performing at 10:30 and then students from Ossining High School performed until 1:00. At 1:15, Mike and Miriam took the stage with Jake, Mike L., and Tommy D. They played about 10 songs and then the rain came. And it came down fast! So they loaded all the equipment into the foyer of 2 Church Street and waited.
WIth a recital booked at 3pm, they had to do something! Mike thought fast...he ran across the street to Anthony's Sports Grill, asked them if they would like a huge crowd to come in right now! They said sure, and they were so nice. They set up for all our students and were very accommodating. So, with the help of some of our staff and some parents we loaded all our equipment, on foot, across the street. We were all drenched and tired, but we knew we had to make this recital happen! So at 3:30 we started the show and it was perfect! Everyone sounded really wonderful and the crowd was terrific.
We ended at 4:30 and then.....there was another act scheduled for 4:45 on the Aqueduct Stage, the sun was now shining so Mike and Jake ran across the street with the equipment again and set up just in time for the Middle Eastern Belly Dancers to perform. Right at 5pm there was a huge thunderstorm beginning so we loaded up all the equipment once again, and headed home. It was a great day! Check out all the pictures below and be sure to participate in our next recital.
