This summer, give your child the opportunity to experience what it's like to be a rock star with Mike Risko Music!
Since the year 2000, aspiring rock stars have enjoyed five days of musical immersion at our Summer Rock Band Experience. These intensive summer programs provide students with a unique chance to learn from seasoned professional musicians and discover the thrill of being part of their own real rock band. Our Rock programs are all about performance, culminating in an electrifying rock concert for friends and family to enjoy.
Students of all levels are carefully placed into bands, ensuring compatibility among members, and each band is guided by a dedicated manager, one of our expert instructors, who leads them through the exciting journey of songwriting and rehearsal. Bands can work on crafting their own original material, including lyrics and music and/or master cover songs of their choosing. Beyond performance skills, students receive instruction on promoting their band, rocking out on stage, and operating sound equipment. Group lessons tailored to the specific needs of each band further enhance their musical abilities. As the grand finale, students get to showcase their newfound talents by performing in a live show, either at a local venue or in our outdoor education space. For added convenience, our shows are recorded, allowing friends and family from afar to share in the excitement.
Rockers from all over Westchester flock to be part of this thrilling program. Some join individually, while others come with their existing bands, seeking extra coaching and the chance to shine in the end-of-camp concert. Many bands decide to stay together even after the summer concludes, while others sign up for our various workshops held throughout the school year. This program is an incredible journey for kids, fostering teamwork, nurturing musical skills, and boosting confidence, all through the power of music.
We welcome participants of all levels and ages, grouping students by age range. All instruments, including brass, woodwinds, and strings, are encouraged. We even extend a warm welcome to kids interested in band management roles, where they can work alongside the band, contributing to the fantastic performance we present at the end of the week for our rockers.
