Make Music Day is a worldwide celebration of music held each year on the summer solstice, with free performances and hands-on music-making events in over 1,000 cities. Mike Risko Music has been proudly organizing Make Music Day events in our community for over a decade. Join us for live performances, interactive music activities, and pop-up concerts happening all day at locations throughout the area. All events are free and open to all ages – come play, listen, and celebrate the joy of music with us!

Information Sheet for Hosts and Performers
For Hosts Venues
Thank you for supporting Make Music Day! Here’s what you need to know as a host venue:
Free Community Event: Make Music Day is a completely free, volunteer-based event. No one is paid to participate – it’s all about sharing music with the community.
What You Provide:
- A space for a musical act to perform.
- Electricity, if needed (no gear or instruments).
What you Don’t Provide:
- No sound equipment, no instruments – performers bring everything they need.
Promotion Responsibilities:
- Use Make Music Day/Ossining-Briarcliff and Mike Risko Music-branded materials (provided) to promote the event.
- Display the official QR code for the Make Music Day website at your event.
- Help advertise your own event and Make Music Day as a whole.
- Encourage your community/customers to attend.
- Make Music Ossining-Briarcliff posts all events, but you are responsible to bring your own crowd.
- Take lots of pictures and videos, use the hashtag #makemusicossbcliff to post, and email pics and videos to mail@riskomusic.com.
- This is a great marketing opportunity for you! It’s fun to be part of this worldwide program.
Weather Policy:
- Try to do the performances outside, but you can do inside if you want.
- This event is rain or shine.
- If you have an indoor option, make sure to bring your music inside if it rains. Everyone is responsible for their own gear and instruments, so be sure to make wise weather decisions.
For Performers
Thank you for sharing your talent! Here’s what you need to know as a musician/performer:
Volunteer-Only: Make Music Day is an unpaid community music celebration.
Bring Your Own Gear:
- You are responsible for bringing and setting up all instruments, mics, amps, etc.
- Hosts only provide electricity (if available).
Self-Promotion:
- Promote your performance using the official graphics with Make Music Day and Mike Risko Music logos.
- Display the QR code for the Make Music Day website during your set.
- Bring your own crowd- help spread the word! We will post on the Make Music pages, but musicians and venues are responsible for bringing their own crowd.
- Take lots of pictures and videos, use the hashtag #makemusicossbcliff to post and email pics and videos to mail@riskomusic.com.
- This is a great marketing opportunity for your music. It is fun to be part of something worldwide!
Weather Reminder:
- Try to perform outdoors if you can.
- No rain date.
- Coordinate with your host to perform indoors in case of rain – confirm that in advance.
Make Music Ossining-Briarcliff is a community-coordinated event. Mike Risko Music and Make Music Day organizers are only facilitating bookings and providing promotional materials. All participants – hosts and performers – are individually responsible for their own equipment, setup, and promotion. Participation is at your own risk.
